winding down

I am winding down this blog..and once I work out how to save my posts somewhere  (does anyone know?) I will close it. I just cannot manage 2 blogs, a website, facebook/twitter, 2 kids, a business and general life. So from now on I will be posting over here ..mostly photography stuff but also life stuff. I would love you to come visit if you feel inclined. 

I do love this blog..it has been my journal and my link to the world for such a long time ..but in the constant search/battle to find balance and manage my time better..the time has come to say goodbye to it. ..but hopefully not to you. Update your feeds, come say hi on the other side! 

Goodbye typepad blog, you served me well.

juggling.

Life is funny the way it goes around, up and down, busy, full, happy, sad, mad, round and round. I have neglected this poor blog, not intentionally, but life has seen me busy with this blog which leaves little time for this one. I wish there were more hours in the day, or that I had more exciting things to say..LOL

Lets recap for the last few weeks. I had my operation..recovery was ok. It was hard to remember not to push myself and stay within my limitations. I feel good now and go back to the dr on friday for my 6 week review. 

Photography business is blossoming. I am very happy with my direction and my achievements so far. I have lots of plans to help it (and me) grow this year. 

Family are fab. The kids are just getting over a bout of whooping cough (who know you could still get it if you were immunised!!) Lucy loves school. Jacks speech is getting better everyday and he is becoming a real comedian. 

Scrapbooking is still happening even though I am not sharing (sorry about that). The new Australian scrapbooking mag hit the newsagent a few weeks ago and Lucy was very excited to see herself on the cover..more news for school. I had 3 layouts and a cover..although they didn't put my name to most of them. Bit of a lucy-fest. Poor second child Jack...LOL!

I have done some other scrapping but I moved my office and the scanner is now upstairs and I keep forgetting to photograph them. Soon.

What else..um...I have a wedding this weekend in the blue mountains that I am very excited about. Then next weekend I am going to newcastle for a business workshop (I have some time for a couple of mini sessions on saturday if anyone is interested, contact me) then the following weekend, another wedding and then I am off to melbourne for a week which will finish up with some sessions in the fire affected areas for anyone who has lost their family photos or wants to start new memories. I will be in the taralgon area and maybe kinglake too. phew..thats my life. Busy but good.

so i had this brilliant idea

to move my office to the spare room behind my studio space..(actually ,thanks Kim for the idea)...but unfortunately it is 2 floors down from this computer and the wired internet connection. No drama, I went out and bought a fancy big ar*e wireless router and sat waiting to logon on down there..nothing, nada, zip...no internet connection. I feel lost! I can easily sit up here on the pc and access it but unfortunately all my photos, files, time and energy is spent on the Mac down there! arrgghh!! my darling husband is looking into it..as a week without constant internet access is killing me. Mind you, my bum is getting firmer from the multiple trips up and down the stairs to check emails...
As soon as the mac is back online I will share some photos and creating! Fingers crossed its today!

i have been missing in action for the past week or so..a little trip to hospital turned into a slightly bigger trip with a few complications but I am home now, feeling tender and a bit tired but overall pretty good. I am excited to be back to full speed soon as all that time on my back caused me to do ALOT of thinking! I want to get back into my scrapbook room, spend more time creating for me now that I am not committed to create or on time schedules. I have lots of our stories I want to get down on paper, and I want to take more photos of my kids, not just my clients! LOL! My little business is doing well. I have lots of weddings booked for the year and lots of ideas for ways to grow and improve. I am finding BALANCE is hard to find so I have given up on it as I just have to realise I cannot do it all. Instead I need to make choices...hopefully good ones..about my time..giving enough to my family, business, and even some personal time out in there. So with time out comes some perspective on what is important....and living a complete life is high on my list! see you soon...

oh dear..

I have been very slack updating this blog..Lots of action over here but I figured I won't repeat myself. I have been busy with family photo shoot on thursday, a newborn on friday, a wedding on saturday and a lighting workshop in sydney yesterday..and today I got to breathe. *sigh* ..I love being busy so I am all good. I think just having my impending visit to hospital and the uncertainty of how long I will be out of action is making me put extra pressure on myself to get everything done before I go in. ..I am doing good though..Heres a couple of my favourites from the past few days..

i could go on..I have alot of favourites but instead I think I will go to bed. I am worn out ..lots to do tomorrow.  see you later alligators! jk

great fun!

I had a blast in Moree..despite the rain I brought with me (i am considering hiring out my services as a drought breaker if anyone is interested). 2 fun days teaching and chatting and sharing with 12 lovely and keen photographers..

5 mini sessions with spunky families and some impromptu headshots for fun! I cannot thank this lady enough for organising it all, letting me bunk at her place and generally taxing me around town..

she is beautiful inside and out! I have so many photos to share and stories to tell but for now I am very weary. Lots of talking, thinking, taking photos and travelling has taken its toll on my body. My bed is calling my name. see you soon...

off to Moree

tomorrow to teach some lovely people how to get better results from their cameras. Cannot wait for my little weekend adventure. See you on the other side! xx

trying to find a way

to help. The bushfires that have ravaged Victoria have affected my heart in so many ways..I really want to help the families who have lost so much and experienced such horrific events.  I have 2 ideas how I can do a little bit to help so head over to my photography blog, here, if you want to check them out and see what you can do to help as well. 

big week in the kaye hosehold

first I had a wedding expo on sunday that was long, hot, exhausting and so so so much fun! I loved meeting all the new brides to be, hearing about thir plans and details and generally chatting the day away. I could have done with an IV drip of coke (coca cola that is) and some air conditioning but otherwise I had a fab day and I am very grateful for my gorgeous friend Brigette for coming to help me and talk me up. Some photos of my both (not my best work..it was a cramped space and I didn't have a wide angle with me..but you get the point)

then monday, this little chicken started BIG school. Check out how excited she is..

she breezed into that classroom without a care in the world. I, on the other hand, could feel my heart beating and tried very very hard to stop the trickle of tears that escaped from my eyes. It was like a slap in the face how big she got and how quickly this happened. The worst part...when Lucy left she gave him one of her toys to Jack to look after for the day and a big hug telling him she was going to miss him. He told her he was going to miss her too, then he turned to me and  asked me who he was going to play with for the day. My heart burst with pride and shattered into a million tiny pieces all at once. And apparantly the answer of "mummy" didn't really cut it. Lucky I have a wonderful friend who let me borrow her kid for the day. The boys had a blast and lucy wasn't mentioned once. Oh, i need to show you the hat.. . check it out. It was the smallest size they have. she will be wearing that bad boy in college. she does have a pin head but really!LOL! 

I still have to share my last few photos of January but my crack at photo a day for january is over. I had the best intentions and managed it but generally life got in the way. I could never do it for a year..i have no stamina! LOL! literally and rhetorically.

Speaking of which, I am totally shattered. I have that hazy head feeling when you have gone 3 steps past overtired. It is still early for me but maybe my out of whack body clock is trying to tell me something. Plus I have got to get up early to iron uniforms and make lunches (who would have thought..I am surprising myself!)

the end of an era

it was such a hard decision but yesterday I resigned from my position on the shop and crop DT. I have been a part of the team for 2 sensational years. Sasha helped me to realise so many dreams, supported and encouraged me and became one of my dearest friends. I was finding the elusive quest for balance and time management too much and although I could find the time to make the layouts, I struggled to manage the other requirements of being on a DT. Something had to give, and sadly it was my cyberspace home. I will miss being a part of such an amazing team, although I do hope Sash asks me to play with some product for her every once and a while! LOL! here are my last 2 layouts for the upload at s&c. The girly one is the new wrmk kit and the one of jack is the 5 products 5 ways. 

*sigh*

ok...what else has been happening. tuesday was a good day with the kids. we had a play date with kim and benson in the morning, then Jack had his first speech therapy visit which went well. Then home to play in the cubby. dinner= steak and fried rice. yesterday, the kids had the day with grandma and I spent part of the day hanging out with a fellow local photog., learning and talking and inspiring each other. good fun. Then yesterday afternoon my gorgeous friend Kirsty lent me her husband who very kindly crawled into my tiny and awkward roof space to put a ceiling fan above my desk in my office nook. 

today was a busy day. Lucy and I did lots of errands after dropping Jack at pre-school. Then she had a playdate while I went to my business networking meeting. We then did some more errands (including picking her up a very very reasonably priced little point and shoot camera. 8MP , face detection, and image stabilization. she is happy and so am I as I plan to borrow it sometimes..LOL!) loved watching her struggle to get used to not having a viewfinder...LOL! and then watching her snap photos of all sorts of things. I cannot wait to download them and see what she sees. 

tomorrow is lucys last weekday before school starts on monday. we are having a girly fun day with my bf and her daughter who also starts school next week (at a different school so the girls are not going to see each other as much which makes me rather sad). 

so thats it for me. I have tennis to watch and chocolate biscuits calling my name! seeya
